I was just wondering if anyone exercises and if so what do you usually do and for how long/often.
Thank You so much!

I exercise a lot--an hour of walking and at least 40 minutes of swimming. I added strength training as a NewYears resolution, because I'm 49 and feeling flabby in spite of cardio fitness. My experience is that even with exercise--if the food is unbalanced,i.e. too much fat, sodium or calories, I will gain weight. The diet comes first, then exercise and along with that the relaxation techniques that the Rice House recommends, which raise endorphins, reduce cortisol and assist the mindful attitude that makes overeating unecessary. mtgillott

I do the walk tapes, Leslie Sansone, the" two mile high calorie burn" with three pound hand weights. Also I mow my very big lawn with a push mower we've had a lot of rain this spring and it has to be done at least once a week.

I do turbo jam! I know everyone's seen the infomercial at least once, becuz it's always on. I do it 5 days a week. The one I do is called Cardio Party" and it's 43 minutes long. It great! And for those days when I have a little extra time and energy, I also do the "Ab Jam" 18 minute workout. My body has definitely changed and in combination with the Rice Diet it's only going to get better!

Hey,
I am trying to walk atleast 30 minutes a night. This is a good time also for me to think(meditate) on my goals and what I want to accomplish. I will increase my walking once I get more accustomed to getting up and moving
Have a great day!

I do strength training (weights) and at least 25 minutes of cardio on the stair machine, bike and/or eliptical machine every single day. I know how undisciplined I am, so I can't afford to miss a day and get out of routine. Then I go get in the swimming pool and just tread around for about 30 minutes; I guess that's my thinking/meditating time.
The scales haven't moved for me in 5 days, but I know I'm building muscle and endurance, so I still feel great.
Good luck to everyone!

I have been bad about exercize I really want to find someone close to do this with so we can exercize together. I hate most forms of cardio. I love to lift weights but I can usually find too much else to do with my time to distract me. I started riding bikes w/ my son but sadly my knees were in terrible pain for weeks afterward. This summer I am going to take swimming lessons so that I can swim laps for exercize and overcome my fear of deep water.

I did a program for a year and a half or so called "It Figures" which is basically the same as curves ( I think ). It worked great and the results were FAST - 2 or 3 inches off my thighs in the first 2 months as I recall. However the routine got very boring, very fast causing my regularity to wane after about 6 months. It makes a GREAT start, but I would not sign up for more than a year.

Anyway, I think that "mixing it up" is often a good way to prevent bordom.

I hope I can ride my bike again soon...

I with rtgizmo, I can't skip a day. One day leads to two, etc. and before you know it it's been 8-9 years.
So, I began walking for 60 mins. each night almost a week before I officially began this dieta and continued that for about another week, week and a half. Then when I felt I was ready, I switched to my old Jane Fonda Step Aerobic workout. Before you laugh, Sharon Stone said that's what she used to get into shape before making Cat Woman. At first, I couldn't do the full 45 mins. or the ab work, but now I can do the full aerobic workout and part of the ab workout. I also started going weight training, with three pound weights, using my old Rachel McLish's tape and Joyce Vidral tapes. I alternate lower body one day and upper the next.
I'm thinking about trying Pilate's on Sundays in place of my regular workout.

Hi, my name is Liz, I just joined this forum and am starting the RD today -- I am in detox day 1.
I have been exercising for a year and a half now -- what I do is The Firm workout videos - body sculpting/weight/resistance training 3 days a week - 50 - 60 minutes each day and the treadmill 3 - 4 days a week - 45 - 60 minutes at a fairly faced pace -- right before I'd need to run -- I just can't run on the treadmill -- kills my chins.
I really enjoy both of them, but it's still a struggle to make myself get up every morning to do it.
Liz
