I just finished reading my book & need to go grocery shopping tomorrow. I am going to start Monday since I have nothing in my house! I rearranged my cupboards today & have 1 1/2 shelves that are things I can eat. My question is regarding vegetables & beans. Is it best to buy fresh vegetables or is frozen o.k. to use?
I was reading the sodium on some of my frozen veggies & was surprised to see the mg. of sodium in some of them. And from reading different postings it looks like the best way to buy beans is raw & then cooking them.
I printed out bludaffodils menus to help me = which by the way - thank you for doing that! but was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions to what else I might want to add to my shopping list. I am really looking forward to starting monday (my husband is willing to start with me too!) but am scared at the same time as I have tried so many different diets. I always seem to have this little person in my head trying to convince me that this isn't going to work either!
Thanks, Elaine

Elaine,
Hi and welcome! Tell that "little person to shut up and butt out! You are going to succeed at whatever you decide to do."
Okay, now that that is done. There is a shopping list on a thread in the Forum, you might want to look for that.
My opinion, fresh is best when possible.
I prefer to buy dry beans and cook them in my crock pot. It is easier than looking for low sodium canned beans and I like the taste better. I add things like garlic, onion, fresh ground black pepper and red pepper flakes to the beans and water in the crock pot. If you haven't cooked dry legumes before (beans, lentils, dried peas, etc.) You should know that you need to pick through them, sometimes they have small rocks mixed in. Then you need to rinse them in cold water, pour out the water and repeat until it runs clear. You can soak them if you want, but it isn't necessary. I used to do that, now I just put mine on low and let them cook all night.
