so, i was flipping throgh the prevention magazine that i get all the time (but hardly ever read since i am just too plain lazy to unsubscribe, you know, in the off chance i actually read the darn thing, lol).... and found the rice diet. so i came on, read some of the posts and i am now a little confused. in the magazine there was this layout to the rice diet:
PHASE ONE, day one: 2 starches, 2 fruits
day 2- end of week: 1 starch, 1 dairy, 1 fruit (breakfast) and 3 starches, 3 veggies, and 1 fruit (dinner and lunch)
PHASE TWO, day one: 2 starches, 2 fruits
days 2-6: 1 starch, 1 dairy, 1 fruit (breakfast); 3 starches, 3 veggies, 1 fruit (lunch and dinner)
day 7: 2 starches, 1 fruit (Breakfast)
3 starches, 3 veggies, 1 fruit (lunch)
3 starches 3 veggies, 3 protein (or two dairy), 1 fruit (dinner)
rinse. repeat.
so my questions are....
1) is this right? lol and 2) when it says for example, 3 starches, 3 veggies, 1 fruit (lunch and dinner), does that mean 3 starches for lunch, 3 starches for dinner? or 3 starches to spread about between lunch and dinner.
i know there is a book you can get, and i am excited to get it, but i need to start tomorrow and probably can't get the book until later in the week... any tips or help would be appreciated, i am so fed up with my weight (270 ish) and i need to do something now. thanks for any help!
stay strong,
e

Welcome!!
I hope you find this forum as relaxing and helpful as I have!
Here goes my try to answer your ???s...
1) is this right?
Yep, I thought the same thing with all the hullaballoo about carbs lately. (plus dealing with demons / ex MILs from my past : "You need to stop eating breads, rice and noodles. Starches are BAD for you! My son doesn't want a fat wife!") (and that's OK, he doesn't have one now!) But yes it's right. and with only a few days in, I can say, honestly with surprise... It works!
2) when it says for example, 3 starches, 3 veggies, 1 fruit (lunch and dinner), does that mean 3 starches for lunch, 3 starches for dinner?
Yes.
3 starches to spread about between lunch and dinner.
No. 3 starches, 3 veggies, 1 fruit each meal.
You will want to check bludaffodil's posts on the "forum" board (link to the left) for recipes, tips and menus. She (or someone else!) will usually bump it to the top of the list every few days.
Good luck and Good Ricing!
