As a member of the DH club, most of us pray for the following (adapted from a St.Charles prayer):
Build me a child, O Lord, who will be strong enough to know when she/he is weak,
and brave enough to face oneself when he/she is afraid;
one who will be proud and unbending in honest defeat,
and humble and gentle in victory.
Lead him/her, I pray, not in the path of ease and comfort,
but under the stress and spur of difficulties and challenge.
Here let her/him learn to stand up in the storm;
here let him/her learn compassion for those who fail.
Build me a child whose heart will be clear,
whose goal will be high,
a child who will master oneself before seeking to master other men,
one who will reach into the future,
yet never forget the past.
And, after all these things are his/hers,
give her/him, I pray, enough of a sense of humor,
so that he/she may always be serious,
yet never take herself/himself too seriously.
Give him/her humility,
so that she/he may always remember the simplicity of true greatness,
the open mind of true strength.
Then I, as dad, will dare to whisper,
‘I have not lived in vain.'
Thanks for being here ... from DH's everywhere.

The above line spoke volumes to me. The world would be a kinder place if our children were taught to look at the good in others and forget about the bad.
I wish I had done that better!
Thanks for sharing Restingtree and HAPPY FATHERS DAY!!!!
