I'm happy to say that I weighed in at 126 this morning. That's two more pounds that are gone forever and about twenty to go.

I have really been sticking to the program since last Tuesday; nothing has even tempted me to go off. Thanks be to the personal trainer at Pure Fitness, who said sarcastically, "How's that working for you?" That was in response to me telling him that I had already found a healthy eating program and explaining a bit about the Rice Diet Program. Thus, I wasn't interested in their recommended "diet." Which, by the way, is too high in protein (30%), too low in carbohydrates (40%), with no distinction between simple and complex carbs and very high fat (30%). Get this, the reason they recommend so much fat is to make you feel full. I pointed out that fiber makes you feel full and is lower in calories and healthier. I don't think he liked me much after that. Anyway, I am extremely stubborn by nature and with his comment I immediate fell into my, "I'll show you," mode and haven’t even been tempted to go off the RD program since.

Last night was my “bonus” workout. It was supposed to be their last attempt to get me to renew my membership. I was expecting to workout with his wife again, but when I arrived he said I would be working with him and a couple of other people. Then after having me warm up he introduced me to this couple and told them that I would be, “Tagging along this evening,” I wasn’t impressed. The workout went fine for the most part, except when he told me I have “weak abs,” because I couldn’t go down far enough on one of the ab workouts. “Give me a few weeks; we'll see who has weak abs,” back in "I'll show you," mode. At the end he had us get on the stationary bikes, but then had me get off before I had really cooled down. I stood and waited while he had the man from the couple sign a form and he talked to them for a few minutes. Next he just walked off and didn’t bother to tell me that I was free to go and apparently had been the whole time I was standing there. I could have finished my cool down . . . , but I didn’t know that until it was too late. So I went away with the distinct feeling of having been treated like a second class citizen and then being snubbed.

The good news is I am motivated, even though not in the way he intended. Also, I came away with very definite ideas of how I want to run my business when I get it started. I never want a client to walk away feeling the way I felt last night.
Live Well,
Aideen

I had a bad experience with a personal trainer last year. He spent a lot of time looking at his cell phone and going to the front desk (to deal with customers & other employees--he was a manager). Timid me, I never complained, just stopped going. He never really tried to motivate me. I know not all of them are like that, but he turned me off to the whole idea (and now I can't afford it anyway). Now I'm just going solo for cardio and my fiance has agreed to do strength training with me 3 times a week.

So I know how aggravating it can be, but it sounds like you got a good head on your shoulders. Naysayers are everwhere, even in the fitness world. Everyone has their idea about what works and some people are stubborn about it.
