Today was my fourth day. So far so good. I feel so good about the whole program and haven't felt hungry yet.Tomorrow I have my card group over for a luncheon, and Sat. we go to a wedding shower. My 'groupies' are bringing a seafood salad, a wonderful, healthy, ricediet friendly whole grain bread from a health food bakery. I am supposed to furnish dessert. I made the wild rice salad, from the book, - enough for all, but certainly enough for my starch and veg. I figure I can also eat a slice of the bread. I decided to make parfaits out of vanilla low-fat yougert and fresh berries. I'll stick a cookie on top of theirs! Even though I'm only supposed to have the yogurt for breakfast, this will be the lesser of many evils! Saturday will be dicey. It is a dessert shower!!!! My daughter is on the dieta with me and she suggested bringing a huge fruit salad. The groom's Mom asked her to make two cheesecakes, so it won't be too out of line to bring an extra fruit salad. But we figure if we eat before, and concentrate on the party and not all those scrumptious desserts that may call to us, we'll be all right!
We love to entertain. What other suggestions do you have when one cannot really be in charge of the menue!

Wow, you sound very much in control of knowing what you can eat.. and being prepared for the luncheon. As for the dessert shower on Saturday ..... knowing me and my fondness for desserts, I think I'd have to fake a broken jaw and attend with my jaw wired SHUT. You're right... that day will be a challenge. The fruit salad sounds like a good idea, plus I think I'd concentrate on keeping myself busy drinking LOTS of water and telling myself that I don't have to indulge in order to have a good time. Do a detox the next day and get back on the program. Good luck. Bonnie

Bonnie's advice is perfect - as always! It helps me to keep a glass of water in my hand so that it isn't as easy to pick up something else to eat. Sipping water throughout the whole party will keep you busy - both drinking and making bathroom runs!! Water is always my secret weapon at any social event.
Have a great time and remember that even if you stray, you can always get back on track the next day.

I can't recall the name of the company but instead of 'flower arrangements' they feature 'fruit arrangements'. I don't know how pricey they are but I'm thinking when asked to bring something to a party I need to bring something 'i' can eat. This idea crossed my mind.

I've rediscovered chewing gum...sugarless, of course. It's handy when temptation lurks and also for occasions when I can't have my water with me...like at the movies or in my water aerobics class.

It is a good idea to feel full before the temptation of the party is at hand and that is to drink alot of water before you get to the party. Many times we are dehydrated and so get up that day and drink 2 glasses of water and then another 2 glasses just before you go to get full before you hit the party. It makes a difference. Good luck and let us know how you did.
