Is there an App for smart phones for the RD?
If not can I patent the thought ;) ? Until I figure out how to create an app?

No seriously- is there an app that would help me keep track of menus, create menus, keep a diary, etc?

Maybe you can find the answer you're looking for about an App... by clicking on the "View New Content" which is in the white section on the right side near the top of this page. That will bring up a window that shows New Entries ... On that page there's a light and dark blue bar with the words HELP FILE - MEMBERS - FORUMS - CALENDAR on it. Click on the HELP FILE and that gives you a lot of information on what's available. If that fails, email Jayne at jayne@ricediet.com Hope that helps you. Bonnie

I don't think there is one yet for the RD, but if you just want to track food, create meals, etc. you can do it on www.Livestrong.com Go to Daily Plate to get started. They have an app.

I am currently trying 'Lose It'
It is an app for my iphone.
I don't recall if it costs money.
I am an analytical/quant type of person and have always used a computer/palm/handheld record keeping solution when dieting.
I like knowing the stats.

With lose it, I access the online database once when I add a new food.
The food particulars are then downloaded to my device.
Subsequent uses of the same food are speedy.
It allows recipes so you can just create "my salad".
In the future, when you again have 'my salad' it knows about the (for example) tomatos, carrots and cucumbers that are in it.
It doesn't have the fine customization with measurements.
I would like to see other measurement selections than 1/8 of a cup.
Ie-If you have one brazil nut a day the smallest quantity is 1/8 C
Just let go of your inner control freak and is the 20 cal or .1 fat grams you are overstating really a concern?

I lave the livestrong app also. That is part of the Lance Armstrong foundation.
It has, like RD, a community associated with it.
I'll have to look at it again.

(I know this is an old thread, but hey, I 'm reading it so someone else might too)
Auf Weidersehen,
Beth

I use FatSecret. They have an app, that syncs to the online website.
I really like it. Has a good database, plus you can add your own items. Or plug in a recipe.
Plus, you can scan barcodes and have it go into your tracker.
