I'm back after a few years hiatus. Cooking out of the RD cook book and enjoying the fabulous variety of food.
Started a week ago and down 9 lbs.!
Working out this time and trying to take advantage of the $ I am spending on a trainer to lose wt at the same time.

Poor husband blows up like a ballon with all this fiber, beans, whole grains. He needs his bean-0!

Only 66 lbs more to healthy bmi. Well, I'll take another 5 next week, please sir.

WOW seems this group is slow in forming....count me in....I just returned after a long hiatus. I have been gaining and am just about what I was when I started in 2006. Sad isn't it? But I know a lot of us have been there. I just hope I keep this up this time. It gets harder everyday.
I always thought I ate because it tastes good. Well that too,,,,,but I am finding when I get stressed I head out to find something I really should
not have. When I do this I know as I am doing it that I shouldn't but it is like my mind just pushes those thoughts aside and my mouth opens and my hand shoves something in.....it is pitiful. I am ashamed. BUT I PROMISE TO DO IT THIS TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!AGAIN

I didn't start today as I originally planned. I couldn't find the article with the dieta basics online. I decided to wait until my Mom mails my book to me. It should be here in a couple of days. Now I don't feel rushed because I can plan a grocery list and prepare. I think my problem before was that I ate a lot of the same things over and over and I got really bored. I am going to have to hunt down some recipes.

Check out the recipe forum on this site, too. Not everything on there is RD compatible, but may be tweaked. And of course lots of the recipes are good to go.

Stress is soooo hard to manage when your first instinct is to eat - anything. I mentioned changes in my Father in laws needs (82), now my husband is in the hospital-very little sleep last night - going today for totally unexpected gallbladder surgery, and while we were in ER, my daughter who is expecting her first child in 6 weeks, called from her drs appt and said they may need to induce her early..........My sister said I had "that helium voice" when I called her! I know this isnt a mental health forum, so I appologize, but maybe venting will keep me from the pizza bar at the hosp today! BDGirl :o

It's nice to see former members returning. I'm getting to the point where I'm ready to commit to starting over with 'beginner's eyes.' I've gotten into the habit of 'doing it my way.' You know what they say in 12 step programs: If you always do what you've always done, you'll always get what you've always gotten. Well, that about wraps up what my life has been like lately, and still I've resisted getting back on the RD without 'doing it my way.' But Mr. Wonderful is off to Florida next week on a cycling trip and I'm working myself up to re-reading the book and committing myself to doing what it says.

BDGirl, just read your post and want to commend you for coming here and letting all out. That is so hard to do when the first inpulse in instant gratification in the form of some salty, greasy or sugary food.

Isn't it amazing how we get hit with stuff all at once? Please be good to yourself as you go through this rough patch and know that we are here for you and sending you ((hugs)) and positive thoughts.

These are two websites that should be of interest to the Ricers......I got the information by Googling some of the things in the index
Bibliography section of Rice Diet Solution.

Howdy all. Hope your all having a great day. I just had some wild rice. It was really good too. Never had that before. Oh yesterday I bought a really nice Rice cooker off Amazon. A Zojirushi 5 1/2 Cup Rice maker and it does alot more too. Slow cooker and it has a timer so you can set it up when you go to bed or for when you get home from work it will be ready for you. Plus When it is done cooking it will keep it hot for like 12 hours. I read all the reviews on Amazon about it and they all loved theres. So in about a week I should have mine too. I did pretty good last week, I lost 4 lbs. I am really happy with that. Well talk to you all real soon. Good to meet you all, Doug in Calif...

Hi everyone!

I hope it is okay if I join your little growing group. I need all the support I can get. I am doing this the second time around now as many of us are. I have been away for several years, but it already feels familiar again. The food is simple for now and hopefully I can get more adventurous once I am comfortable with the portions and stuff.

I know I could search and find the answer to my question...but seeing as how I am slightly lazy.... figured I would put the question here.

Is this horrendous headache that I have had since waking up this morning normal? I don't remember it from last time around, but maybe the pain was so bad that I blocked out the memory. I could barely function at work all day. I should be completely honest and tell you guys that I have no intention of cutting out my coffee, so it wasn't caffiene withdrawal at all.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Windy

Welcome to the group Longing2BThin. I would think any drastic change to your diet (sugar, caffeine, protein levels) could cause that headache. If it is like another plan I followed, take ibuprofin and it will pass within 3 days.

BDgirl, sorry to hear so much is happening, but things are said to happen in 3s so hopefully you've had all yours now. I'll keep your family in my prayers -- and vent. This is a support group, we are here to help! Avoid the chocolate and pizza at the hospitals, and try to load up on fruit if you need to snack!

As for the repetition on the site, I think sometimes if you hold the submit button too long the site thinks 2 things were entered, but I'm really not sure. I'm sure it is unintentional.

Leeney, congrats on restarting. Sounds like you have it under control!

Thank you for the support. I was feeling a bit embarrassed for going off on a tangent! My husband ended up with a very bad gallbladder, no symptoms prior to this, had large open abdominal surgery due to infection...Doing ok, will be in hospital about a week. I have stayed the course! Continuing to lose weight-I will post when my sched settles and I am sure what the "true" weight is! It is hard though, I packed my lunch today, found a microwave, and felt much better. My daughter is doing ok, she just needs a couple more weeks, and we'll be confident baby will be ok. Brother in law is helping more with father-in-law.....so, thanks again. I do feel this site is contributing to my success! BDGirl

WTG BDGirl, I'm glad you didn't fall off plan. You'll be happy about it in the end. Glad to hear hubby is doing ok as well.

Doug, you'd never had wild rice? Wow, I love that stuff!

No real news here, think I am going to try Quinoa for the first time, exciting huh ;)

Have a good on-plan day.

There is a recipe in The Rice Diet Cookbook that I have enjoyed. Give it a try. Page 135 Susan's Bean Dip. I ordered the Desert Pepper Trading Co. White Been Dip from the Rice Diet Store. Today I had Susan's Bean Dip on lettuce leaves and it was the best lunch I have had in a long time. I will order other items from the Rice Store to have new flavors and taste. Very Good!

Make sure you rinse the quinoa first. Otherwise it can have a bitter taste.

I tried some wild rice last sunday night. It was very very good. I just ordered some off of Amazon. I got 12 lbs of it and got the free shipping. I just got my Zorjirushi Rice Cooker today and wow is that neat to use. I made my first batch of Brown rice and it was so good. The machine is really simple to use too. Just put the water and rice in and tell it what Kind of rice you have and then press cook. Then the machine take over and does the rest. It is really easy to clean too. Now I am making a pot of White Rice to see how that comes out. I will have some of that for my last meal of the day. So It was a real fun day today Eating good and playing with my new machine. Just a great day. Doug in Calif....
