I have been lurking around this board for a while and have decided to take the plunge and start tomorrow! I had hoped to have the book by now but it is taking a long time (ordered from ebay). I am going to try and post daily- not only my weight but anything else that is weighing on me.I have lost a lot of weight in my life and gained a lot. I am currently battling stage 3 endometrial cancer (almost 2 years out from my last chemo
) and think that a mostly vegetarian diet would be a good fit for me. I have done some trial run days of rice/fruit and my digestive issues just disappeared. I have always tried to restrict carbs to lose weight so this is totally new to me. I don't like a lot of meat so I think this will be perfect for me. I am a big planner type of person so I am going to spend part of today making plans for this first week. I really like the idea of incorporating not only exercise but stress reduction like yoga and meditating. I have an extra room in my house so my DH is going to clean it out and repaint so I can have a yoga/exercise area. I live in the Virginia mountains and have plenty of hiking/walking trails. Well enough from me for now- off to plan my week.

Welcome!
I am new, also - just started today -- don't have my book yet, either!
There are a lot of us "newbies" out there ...... I started lurking through the boards this past weekend. Glad I found them!
Again ... welcome!

today is my first day, and I hope it was yours too! This is my 3d time formally to do this, had success each time and the last time, was Dec 2009, I lost 30 lbs and kept off 20. Now I am coming back to go for 30 more and then 30 after that. I want to think in 30 lb increments.
today, I am predictably sleeping from the blood sugar changes and a little preoccupied, which is how I feel when I start. Got some fresh figs at the market yesterday and had 3 servings of oatmeal, a peach and a serving of figs. Will get remaining starch and fruits for dinner. Oh, and hungry today . . . it will pass, just not used to it yet. Let me know how you get thru the day, ok? S

Heyyyy there...wow, looks like there are several of us starting TODAY...the first day of Spring! How inspiring really! ...thinking of the catepillar, emerging as the butterfly...ahhh yes, challenges and all, we CAN do this. Please, lets just burrow in and let nothing stop our evolution. Together, as women, we can conquer just about anything at all. I'm loving the ideas I'm getting...the journaling online ...here, is wonderful. it's the place we can come, for unconditional acceptance. Can someone tell me, how much water I'm supposed to drink today...first detox day?
I had the first meal so far...1/2 cup oatmeal,1/2 cup dry cereal, 1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk (I HOPE THAT'S alright!!)1/4 cup (I know now I can have more) froz. blueberries, 1/2 med. banana. ok...here we go. After an insane sweet binge last night, I'm throwing myself in with both feet...ready to go!!
I've got MS, and manage that with a very, very low fat (saturated fat) diet.(the Swank diet) It's been extremely successful for going on 22 years. So...how I gained 15 pounds in the past year and a half has been due to simply wayyy overeating sweets mainly. FRUSRATING to say the least. Before being diagnosed with MS in 89, I'd lost 80 pounds! A lifelong dream, to say the least. Then the MS hit, and going on the diet to control that seemed an incredible way to maintain that weight loss. and it WAS, for 20 years. then menopause, emotional upheavals, etc. that caused the mindless eating. arrrgh. Well, a long story, but that's why I'm back!
thanks everyone, for the suppport in advance. Have a GOOD day!!

It is really neat that several of us are starting together...I have much more to lose than you so...about 60 to 70 pounds. I have never had a weight problem until the past 4 years and it is HARD getting this weight off. You are doing great! Keep up the good work. I loved your post and how positive you are! Congratulations on your success!
I have blueberries yesterday too...I wasn't sure on the serving size for them? Do you know what 1 serving of blueberries would be?
Thanks!
