I had that problem in the beginning a little too and I think it was because my body needs a *little* more sodium than is recommended on the plan. I will often put a teaspoon of soy sauce on my rice to increase my sodium. Be careful with soy sauce though...typically 1 tablespoon has nearly triple the amount of sodium recommended on the plan. Good luck and way to go on your weight loss so far!

I am doing the old plan with protein once a week. I am hypoglycemic and this diet is messing up my blood sugar. I really do like the results, but, I drive for a living and I cannot afford to be light headed, in an instant I could seriously injure some poor innocent person and I could not live with that coincident.
Greg, your success has been so wonderful, I'd hate to see you stop doing the RD before trying everything you can to make the plan work for you. At the same time, you have real concerns about your body's reaction. Kat's suggestions about adding more protein and seeking further advice sound good to me. Another thought occurred to me. If you can, why not post your typical day's food intake along with the amounts of food and the times you eat. It may be something simple that one of us sees that could straighten things out for you. This is a strategy that has helped others in the past.

Hey, Greg, welcome back!
You had such success before, I'm sure you'll pick up right where you left off. One thing you might try this time is to space your eating out so that you're taking in food every two to three hours. That should keep you from feeling lightheaded. So you'd be eating the same amount of food, just spread out more over the course of the day. Hold back a fruit and/or a starch from breakfast to eat mid-morning, for example.
Good luck and keep us posted.

The quinoa really helped me. I was eating mostly rice and beans for my starches but starting to feel hunger and cravings. I added quinoa to one meal a day, and that did the trick. It also helped me to lose a bit more. I tend to lose in fits and starts, and protein always helps.

Greg, this journey is one of adjustments and you sound like you are on your way so hang in there and keep making better choices for yourself. Reaching out to the ricing buddies here has been so helpful on my journey that is why posting when it is difficult is just as important as when you have successes to report. Congrats on making the decision to be on the dieta program.
