Ok....so week 2 challenge....adding to week 1 is twofold:
1. Write everything down that goes into your mouth......even the bites, licks, and tastes. You don't need to track the calories and stuff, but maybe having an idea of the sodium would be good.
2. Take 5-10 minutes of contemplative time for yourself....this is not when you are driving or cooking or multitasking in any way. It could be broken into 2, 5 minutes.....morning and evening perhaps.

Don't forget to do the elements of week 1 as well....stay on diet and work out 3x a week. Good luck!

Here goes: 958 calories, 605mg sodium. Beaucoup exercise, meditation, eating on plan (I even ate out today). A+

Anyone else using Livestrong to track food? I like it a lot. They have everything.

I am on phase 2 of the plan. I have always kept a food journal, so that is no problem. I exercised today as well. Detox was today.

However, I will not count cals or sodium. That just makes me crazy. I will follow guidelines of the plan.

Hope that is ok with ya all.

Hi Miss Kitty,
You don't have to "count" any of the totals....That isn't part of my challenge (i had only suggested counting sodium because it has this tricky way of sneaking up!)
You had a great first week!

@Leeney....I use a site called "fatsecret" to track my intake. I have the app for my phone, and it is also on the computer. So, I can track when I am out too. I like to put in what I hope to eat for the day in the morning....so I can make changes if I need to based on totals. I like to track my total sodium intake, as well as fiber/fat/protein/carbs and calories. I can also use my phone to scan barcodes in instead of inputting....that is cool. But, I eat a lot of fresh foods. They are all in there! This specific input helps me to know when I have a good few days, what was I doing, and when the scale goes up...was it that I had 30 more carbs? Or more % of fat intake?

Question about livestrong....does it give you lots of different ways to input an item? By that I mean, when I search rice, it is always for 1/4 cup dry is one serving. Well, what I want to enter is 3/4 cup of cooked....I don't know if that is the correct equivalent. But, I don't have "cooked" as an option. Or I DO have cooked as an option, but for plain white rice, not brown. Know what I mean?

I had a not so good yesterday. I know why I retain water during TOM....because I have made poor choices in food!!
There have been days when I added a second cup of coffee in the afternoon at work....normally I just have the one in the morning.
I have had a few BLTs that I know have added up too. Keeping track of the BLTs in my app help me to realize that, at the end of the day, I have had enough "snacks" to equate a whole other meal, only with poorer nutritional value.
ggrrr......
have a good Tuesday everyone.

Hello,

I got thru my detox day wonderful. Was ok with the foods I chose and really wasnt hungry like I was last week on it.

I lost 1 pound this time instead of 2 from detox last week.

weight now is 162.5

Im making meatballs for supper tonight. Im half afraid to have any with the loss Ive been having. DH wants his meat today, I may just skip eating any and just have my pasta and veggies.

Are you guys afraid to eat the meat? Did it make you gain or did you stay the same?

miss kitty.

@ kitty...You are really doing great on this and you have such a wonderful attitude. Can't help you with the meat question though; I've been a vegetarian for many years, so it's a non-issue for me. Certainly wouldn't hurt to have just pasta and veggies though.

@ Sarah...Question about livestrong....does it give you lots of different ways to input an item? By that I mean, when I search rice, it is always for 1/4 cup dry is one serving. Well, what I want to enter is 3/4 cup of cooked....I don't know if that is the correct equivalent. But, I don't have "cooked" as an option. Or I DO have cooked as an option, but for plain white rice, not brown. Know what I mean? Yeah, there are lots of choices when you input. I try to be as specific as possible when putting in an item, e.g. 'brown rice cooked.' Then you can wiggle the serving size, so if it comes up as 1 cup, you can type in .33 to get one of our servings. They also have a phone app,but I haven't used it...don't know if you can scan. It tallys fats, carbs, nutrients etc. for you, and you can make up meals and enter them with one click, and also input your own recipes. They also have a feature that let's you share with friends, so I thought if anyone else used it, it might be another way we could be accountable to one another.

So today I ate on plan. It was a detox day...I decided to do them on days when I don't do a hard workout...so I consumed 741 calories and 137mg sodium. Meditated this morning and logged my food. Another A+!!! Are you getting this, Scale????

Miss Kitty, we are allowed to have meat once a week on the older plan, and if I'm having a hard workout or just feeling blah, I may have it twice. If it's beef, I'd have only a couple ounces to be safe, but i don't think it will hurt you.

Wow Leeney, is that enough calories to keep you going? Some plans say under 1000 slows your metabolism/weight loss. I have no idea if its true but I try to get between 800-1000 on most days! WTG on the sodium, I seem to end up around 350 no matter what I do, but I'm working on that.

Hi Everyone! The WW plan allows for 3 ounces of meat everyday. I don't do that, but it is "allotted for". There are times when I know my body needs that protein, and then I just do it. I can feel myself getting groggy and feel weak. Then I have some chicken with dinner. And I often have 1/2 can of very low sodium tuna in my salad for lunch. Seems to help stave off the hunger.

I think I read somewhere that the sodium necessary for the body to operate correctly is 300mg a day. I rarely get under that. Maybe once a week, or on detox days especially. But, on normal days, I am somewhere between 300-500 (I try to be anyway).

LEENEY....you are doing GREAT!
KAT....hope you are feeling better and better everyday without the steroids in your system.
Mrs. KITTY.....you are doing really awesome too!

Everyone....keep up the good work!

I had a bumpy first few days this week, but seem to be coming out of that. I'll have a strong finish!

Oh crap, Im up 1.5 pounds today. I had turkey meatballs last night with my pasta. Three ozs. I did two workouts yesterday since I was going to have the meatballs. One in the morning and one in the afternoon. Walk away the pounds with weighted balls. Each was a one mile walk.

Man, Im feeling really bad about this. Is this normal? Sure hope it goes down tomorrow.

164, blah!!!!!

Im doing the plan that I read years ago The Rice Diet Solution.

Which plan is everyone else doing here? And how long did it take for you to reach your goal?

@kitty....you can't possibly have gained 1.5 pounds from eating 3oz of meat. I wouldn't think that is the only culprit.

And...you know our bodies.......fluctuating for all kinds of nonsense....I sometimes gain a pound after a practically detox day!

I do the 3 starch, 3 veggie 1 fruit business....but if I need to add meat, I do.

Kitty, bodies fluctuate, it is more likely a bit of a water gain as it takes more water to process some foods than others, than a true gain. I never weigh daily because the least extra salt makes me gain.

To gain 1.5 pounds you'd have to have eaten 5250 calories MORE than you burned, so I agree with Sarah, 3 oz. of meat alone wouldnt do that. However if you exercised more than usual, your muscles may retain a bit of water!

Hang in there, I'm sure it will equal itself out in a day or two.

Kitty, I'm doing the RD Solutions plan too. It's just the most comfortable fit for me. I think you need to tweak the plans to find what works for you. And don't worry about the weight gain. It is very common and there seems to be no rhyme nor reason for it...in many cases. The key to doing this is simply persistence. We are changing habits that have been with us, in some cases, all of our lives. It takes time, so make sure you are enjoying yourself along the way!

Kat, yeah, I was surprised to see what my totals came up to yesterday. Very unlike me. It was a detox day though, and I followed the plan to a tee. I think I usually eat more like 1000 calories and my sodium I try to keep at 500mg or a bit more.

edit: today I'm taking in 976 calories and 461mg sodium. That's more like it.

Glad you're feeling better, Sare.

Well, yesterday was just not a good day for me. Ate some stuff that wasnt on plan. Guess getting on that darn scale ruioned my day.

However, I did weigh in today and am back down half pound, 163.5. And I ate all my breakfast. I didnt do that the day before and was just super hungry all day yesterday. I have to keep eating my foods. Not starve myself to lose weight. Old habits do die hard, dont they.

Thank you all for the great support.

Good for you, kitty. Yes, it's important to eat enough throughout the day. I love breakfast and many times it's my biggest meal of the day.

Today has been good for me. I've been doing my meditation and logging my food regularly. No weight change today and my intake was 1045 calories and 523mg sodium. I still have a piece of fruit to go.

Keep on keeping on, everyone!

Not an especially good day here. To start off, the scale spiked up. Never a happy moment, but I weathered it, got in gear and got going. If it was possible to forget something today, I forgot it! Keys, water bottles, gym towels, wet swim suit (left in gym bag...YUK!) I could go on. Things took lots longer than I had planned on which resulted in my eating breakfast at 7am and lunch at 2:30! Ouch. In between, was a stop at Costco...don't even want to tell you what I got into there! Not at all interested in dinner, but thirsty as all get out. I will put a wrap on this day and do better tomorrow.

Voluteers for next week's challenge? If not, I'm up for it.

The last couple days have not been on plan. Not too bad, so I guess thats a plus. I need to make some sort of soup. I hope to do that today. I have loads of veggies in my fridge. They just need to jump in that pot of mine.

Im not good at coming up with a challenge. So, whoever does it is fine with me.

Weight as of today, 164.5. The lowest Ive been since doing it this time round was 162.5. Id like to see that number again and go lower.

Exercise has been good this week. I actually did the Walk Away The Pounds three mile walk. That is a first for me, however, I did not use the weighted balls. Maybe next time.
