Over here, too. Even the loaf of Ezekial bread, already sliced, goes straight into the freezer. If I have to thaw a whole loaf of uncut bread, that whole loaf gets eaten, more out of guilt than hunger. You know the excuse, "If I don't eat it it's going to go bad and that's a waste of good food."

Please post them! Over on the McDougall forums (no added fat starch based - similar to Rice Diet but without the portion size or salt restrictions. Dr. McDougall recommends the Rice Diet to what he calls "volume eaters" - people like me who really need portion size restrictions) I see combinations worse than that. Some of the smoothies those people put together make me gag just thinking about but they love 'em and say they taste fantastic.

Besides, I love to see what and how much other people on the dieta are eating - it gives me ideas. I get so afraid of doing things wrong that I stick to eating as plain as possible with easily measured ingredients. Things like soups and stews, especially the recipes in the Rice Diet cookbook, with those 3/4 and 1/8 exchanges per portion, drive me batty.

I tried the McDougall diet, for some reason it was so boring to me. And I don't know why but everything seemed to taste the same. And there were a lot of potatoes.

For me also Simple is best and I don't like to do most recipes either.. in fact I gave away my Rice Diet cook book to one of my SILs. :)

Daily Weigh in:
Down 4oz. Man! I guess that is better than nothing. :)

Yesterday I walked 2240 steps. That is over a mile. I broke it up as I kept getting interrupted and didn't finish my circuits until 7:30 pm
For those who don't know, I walk in my house. Because I'm very tippy and walking on an uneven surface like to take a walk is actually dangerous for me. And I am agoraphobic and have a panic disorder.
I walk my circuits, through my kitchen into the hall thru to the dining room and living room and around. It takes 28 steps to do one circuit, I can't remember but when I first started the dieta and walking it took 38 steps to do one circuit. In losing weight my stride has gotten longer. I still have to do my walking with my HATED cane, as I can lose my balance easily. But for normal every day things I have been able to put my cane away. When I do go out in the yard or garden I have a tall sturdy walking staff I use.

I forced myself to DO MY walking even though it was broken up..

And Food:
Yesterday.
Breakfast Oatmeal 1/2 banana, 1/4 cup prunes, this is about 6 to 8 small prunes,, Yummy.,
Coffee with some creamer and sucrolose.

Lunch:

Wheat berry soup, with green beans
1 apple

and 4 prunes as a snack about 4 in the afternoon.

Dinner, was later for me as I wanted to get my walking done first,.

Rice with the leftover wheat berries cooked in, Wax beans and 1/4 cup of peas sprinkled with a little balsamic vinegar. DELISH!!!!!

I was going to cook some greens, but was tired and opted for easy. I'll be making the greens for my lunch today. nom nom nom

Water: 2 liters and a couple cups of tea along the way. :D

Good for you...the walking is great, and your food sounds good too. I like that you are posting it. I thought about doing that for a while myself, and here's what the voices had to say: Wait till after your birthday so you don't have to post cake and ice cream...You could leave out a couple of things and no one would know...You don't want to do this because then you couldn't sneak in a 'no-no' Ah, yes...thin but not well! Well, it's all part of what we have to continually deal with. At least I'm catching the voices.

GAHHH!! No Change! Which is irritating, hahaha Something funny though, I got on and the scale showed 118.something and I thought there is no way I could lose over a 100 pounds over night,. but I think the batteries need changing and the button got hit to change it to Kilograms? Anyway I fussed around with the batteries and got the pounds reset.

I did no exercise yesterday, that that that is the worst part for me. I am such a couch potato at heart. I never feel good when I do it, I keep hearing people say that you get into this zone and you experience this feeling of euphoric something or other..

That is a lie!!! All it does is hurt, and then hurt more... sigh. I am *GOING* to do my weights today. I will force myself to.
Yesterday food:

The kid wanted an egg sandwich for breakfast so I had one also
1 egg on 2 slices Zeeky bread with just a bare swipe of mayo.
1/4 cup prunes

1 apple
a bowl of green beans and 1 cup rice with balsamic vinegar.
1/2 banana

I had planned on the greens for lunch but instead cooked them for Dinner:

2 bundles of rice noodles and 2 cups of TJs southern greens.
yummy

I had no yogurt yesterday and the gassy ness is gone. hmm.. I'm going to get some Greek yogurt and see if that affects me.
I have the Lucerene plain non fat stuff, and I'm now thinking that doesn't agree with me.

Too bad because I do like it, but I don't like the gassyness.

Leeney, I try and plan "treat days" and enjoy them. Then I have no guilt. :)

Well that means you're getting better! And on your Birthday have what you want.. :)

I've been saving change for awhile in a jar, like over a year, for a special Sushi Night! I have planned on this for the first week in June as my husband has a week of vacation then. I am going to have all that change converted to bills and then buy a nice dinner. If I retain water or gain a little.. I'll deal with it and it will come off. But I'm planning for my Sushi and not feeling bad about it.

hehehe,., the kid will go ICK!! and want a hamburger.

I guess there is a certain time limit to the edit, I forgot about this and wanted to include it.

Yesterday about an hour before we ate dinner, I started getting hungry and decided to wait rather than have a snack. By dinner I was feeling shaky and not very well. My hands were actually trembling. I ate and it was around 20 minutes before I felt better.

I can't ever remember that happening before. humm. I have felt slightly weak and or tired at times though.

I had a fasting blood sugar 1 month ago and all the tests and levels came back good.

Thought I would mention and see if anyone else has experienced that.

off to play with paint..

I'm with the kid ;) give me a greasy cheeseburger, you keep the raw fish! lol, bro lived in Japan and loves sushi, except for the time a fisherman made it for him out on the ocean. It was warm and kind of turned him off for a while, but not for long.

No need to feel guilty, so good for you!

We like the vegetarian rolls and stuffed tofu type better than the sashimi, I do like a bit of lightly cooked octopus and calamari. And the sweet rice and egg stuffed tofu thingys. Delicious!

Well I didn't get over here yesterday, but this morning I am down 3 pounds. Yay!
But I am not holding my breath for long. :)
Saturday was oatmeal, rice and fruit, I had some rice noodles that I made curried and still have some uncooked that I need to use up. I am looking to use them up and not buy them again as they are LOW in fiber and don't fill me up for long. So Sat. I was on plan,

Sunday:
2 Zeekie bread toasted with a brush of marge. 1/4 of a banana. 6 prunes. Coffee with a little non dairy creamer. (I have tried to drink it black, no dice. )

Lunch:
1/4 banana
1 slice zeekie bread, left over greens
1 apple

THEN my husband came home around 3, he had had to work both SAT and SUN and they had catered lunch in. He brought me home 2 of my favorite things,, some Macaroni Grill, baked ziti and a deep fried spring roll. There was 1/2 cup of the ziti which wasn't super salty, but the spring roll was.. epp! and it was deep fried which had a lot of oil in it.
I had an early dinner or "bad snax".

At around 6 I had to fix dinner and made ground turkey patties for the Huz and kid, with the last of our white jasmine rice, green and green beans. Husband asked me to make a pan gravy for the rice, with the sauce from the patties and I did. I didn't use any salt in it, I used a few shakes of ketchup.

It was good!! so I had 2 tablespoons over my cup of rice and greens.

I was fully expecting to not have had any loss but I was pleasantly surprised. I have a feeling it might rebound on me tomorrow though.

today, is 2 starch and 2 fruit detox day!

I also yesterday only drank about 1 liter of water, I was playing upstairs in my art room and we have no bath room up there. So when I work up there I tend to neglect the water as I hate the frequent interruptions.

Saturday I did upper body work out, yesterday I did nothing. :(
Today I'll get some walking in.
Whew. this took a long time to type. *head desk* I am not the greatest typst in the world and I tend to be too wordy.

Today I was down 6 oz. So I was happy. :)
I was sure that the spring roll was going to cause me grief, it might have but not as much as I thought.

Yesterday was "detox" day. I stayed on plan, except for adding 1 cup of mixed cooked greens and green beans to dinner. They just looked GOOD.

Breakfast:
1/2 cup oatmeal (dry, I cook the oatmeal in the bowl) with cinnamon and 1/2 banana
3 prunes.

Lunch:
1 cup rice,
1 apple
1/2 banana

Dinner:
2 zeekie bread toast! with cinnamon and 1 packet sucrolose. (splenda) sprinkled on.
and a tiny brush of oil to hold the "dry stuff on"
1 cup greens and green beans.
5 prunes.

I WALKED 2340 steps yesterday on my circuits. :P GAHHHH!

My cat tried tripping me twice.

Today I will do the upper body weights. I've been doing 2 sets of 10 reps. I will try to add one more set with the 3 pound weights and work harder.

Off to get the kid up and going.

Have a great day Ricers!
Cat :D

OH.. I am going to add some yogurt to the breakfast this morning and see how that affects my digestive. I will "report" back..

ok that cracked me up...

I am going to I think, buy a bread maker and make my own no salt to low salt high fiber bread. We used to have one but I wore it out years ago and we never replaced it.

When my last ABM died (our 4th) I finally decided to invest in a Zojirushi. I know people on-line who have owned one for over 20 years with no repairs or replacement pans necessary, unlike my last Oster. Because it's just the 2 of us now, instead of the large one that makes gigantic 3-pound loaves I went for the mini-Zo that makes a 1-pound loaf.
Posted Image

Works great on whole grain loaves, makes enough whole wheat dough for 2 pizzas, and best of all, it fits in the small counter space that my old Oster used. If I bought the full sized one I would have to clear off half the kitchen table every time I wanted to use it, that machine is so huge!

Now to save up for a decent rice maker. I always had my eye on the Hello Kitty machine by Sanrio
Posted Image
But they're no longer being made. I'll probably invest in the Zojirushi brand for that appliance, too, when the time comes. I read they play Twinkle Twinkle Little Star when you turn it on.

GAHH!!! I'm back up the 6 ozs.. No idea why.
Food yesterday:
Breakfast:
2 zeeky bread toast.
5 prunes,
1 6oz yogurt with 1/2 teaspoon of coco and 1 packet splenda.
coffee one cup black one cup with a little creamer

Lunch:
We had power outages yesterday when I was ready for some lunch and I had no way to make a cucumber sandwich because my zeeky bread was frozen and I was REALLY getting hungry, I was not about to wait until it thawed on it's own so I had 1 slice of my daughters bread that was regular sodium.
by then I was so annoyed I didn't want to cut up my cucumber so I ate the bread with a dollop of mayo.
and had 2 apples
1 cup greens.

Dinner:
YAY the power was back on and I heated up the lentils, I divided the pan into 2 pots, one for the husband and kid and one for me. In theirs I chopped up some already cooked turkey pattie and added some regular seasoning and to my pan I added lots of CURRY powder and a little balsamic vinegar.

And I had sliced cucumbers.
and 3 prunes.

I did upper body weight work also.

(If you are wondering why I call it Zeeky Bread.. it's because I can never get Ezikiel spelled right <--- case in point, and it's annoying to me to have to click on the offered choices that my spell checker gives me. So I'm calling it Zeeky bread.) Ohh the rebel that I am!

Leeney, hahahha  um, I have never picked our cat up, she wouldn't allow it. She's a half wild feral stray and quite the biter. She loves my husband, not so much me,. :P when I do my circuit walking sometimes she gets a few feet in front of me and flops down as if this is now nap time, and is highly offended that I would have the audacity to make her move or be run over. She'll run ahead of me and then sit in the middle of the hall in front of her dish and meow at me.. Not to the side but directly in my path.. I say "Get the Hell out of my way cat!" and poke her with my cane .. she runs about twenty feet and flops down again..
This happens about 5 times,. her flopping her fat little cat behind, and me yelling at her,, until she *and I* get tired of the game and she hightails it up the stairs.
This is called the *unintentional CAT exercise game* and so far it doesn't look like she has made ANY progress in the weight reduction department.

ah well.. I amuse her.

Sparticles, oooo.. That little breadmaker looks nice!

I have an older Zoji rice cooker.. LOVE it! But the Hello Kitty one is adorable.

Thanks for the links.. I love investigating stuff like that.

Ok off to see what else has been posted and then to get the kid up.

Happy Riceing :)

Good job on the food, Cat. Who knows why the scale does the things it does sometimes.

We have two cats...the good cat and the other one. The good cat was a stray that was lying beat up and starving under our bushes a few years ago. For a long time he was a wild thing too. Liked my husband, but me...not so much. He bit me one time and I got celllutlitis. Not fun. But he's mellowed out now. He's a gorgeous Turkish angora. It's his little playmate who is...shall we say 'entertaining?' Speaking of entertaining...check out this link.

Well I am down 4 oz of the 6 I was up.. my face feels puffy, it doesn't look it and my hands and ankles aren't swollen so I don't know. I know my system has changed since I started taking my thyroid medications. I know a couple of people who lost weight after starting with their thyroid meds, and some people who have said it seemed to slow their weight loss down.

Yesterday I walked 2600 steps! So today is weight day.. or I may try the health rider if I can drag it out of the corner.

Food yesterday:
Breakfast:
1/2 cup dry oatmeal
1/2 banana
3 prunes

Lunch:
4 small corn torillas cut into strips and mixed with green bean and greens, steamed in the micro. this was good,. I added a splash of balsamic vinegar.
1 apple

Dinner:
I made some big elbow noodle pasta for the crew and
had 1/2 cup of the plain noodles mixed with 1/2 cup left over lentils mixed in green beans and added some lemon juice, and a tablespoon of parm cheese. this was goood.

I need to stock back up on whole wheat pastas. I let the pasta slide to the more refined that last few months rather than but the whole grain.

We get pasta a lot of times with our subscription to our community basket, which is this Saturday .. Kind of reminding myself here:

I'll take a picture of the groceries we get and try and post it here. I haven't tried the posting pictures yet. On this new board.

Leeney that video of the cat and owl is awesome.. They seem to actually be buddies. How cool is that.

Sparticles I want to replace my very old school Zojirushi rice cooker with a new model.. just to hear the music now.

Ok My kid is going on a breakfast outing this morning so it's get her up and ready to go time.

Happy Day and good Riceing everyone. :)

Dry oatmeal, never tried that. Is it just regular oatmeal out of the package, like I eat my Kashi cereal? WTG on getting the weight going back down.

Hey Kat, I just measure the dry oatmeal at 1/2 and put it in my bowl and add boiling water.
i use the quick cook oats and then after a few minutes add 1/2 banana or chopped prunes, and if it's too thick a splash of rice milk or coffee.

I have eaten uncooked oatmeal and mixed with apple juice or cold white juice (milk) before. It's really not bad.

Hellooo Friends Sorry I went missing, I have been dealing with some interesting and hard to deal with issues with my family. On both sides.
I seem to be stuck at 258.0 and other then wavering up and down a few ozs I sit here.

I've been back and forth to my moms house and another family member's, so I have not stayed on plan the whole time, but I chose the best things I could and that's all I could do.

I feel like I'm coming down with a cold and generally yucky.
But I'll be home for the next few days and can get on track with more water less fat and some exercise.

We were invited to 3 barbecues and husband decided to decline them all. When my husband declines barbecue, you know that man is tired.

He is wanting to fire up ours later today and I'll make up some beef patties for him and the kid and just have grilled zucchini and rice. Maybe some grilled tempeh.,
We might go up and visit the gravesite of my FIL, the cemetery is just up the hill from us.

Tomorrow will be detox instead of today.

Oh and on top of everything,, I forgot my password here and couldn't find my little book.

ok, time to get the kid up, and read all whats been going on..

Doing the best we can is about all we can do. I'm glad your keeping your sanity while dealing with family issues. Just think, if you had let your food go, you'd have two issues to deal with!! Families bring out the best and worst in us, so I appreciate what you're going through. And stress does strange things to our weight loss efforts...something about cortisol, I think.

Hope you feel better soon. I'm ticked that I'm getting sick now when the weather is finally turning nice!

 Well I'm trying to keep my sanity. haha,.

I was down 4 oz this morning. which was a surprise, as we didn't do our own cook out like I expected yesterday. After we went to visit FILs gravesite, the traffic was really bad up on the hill, and it took forever getting down the hill. Daughter was hungry and prodded us into going for "Chinese Hamburger" her way of saying she wanted to go to the Chinese place for lunch. I ordered a steamed rice with beef and broccoli stirfry, which they water steamed for me instead of using oil.. and No sauce except the red sauce and mustard on the side. My order came with a Spring roll which I knew had lots of salt in the filling so I traded for a few fried shrimp. hahaha Which I probably should have resisted but.. we Very seldom go out to eat.

The kid had her hamburger with a HUGE amount of fries.. I had a small handful of them as they don't put any salt on, but let the customer salt them instead.

Then my husband bought a little container of their fresh baked almond cookies. and I had one of those too. I made him take the rest to work this morning. <_<

oh man,.
But today I have been very good.

plain toast from low salt bread I made.
plain rice and sweet red onions nom nom nom
1/2 banana
5 prunes
1 apple

for dinner, I'll have rice or toast with fruit.

Oh.. I found a *hardly used Hitatchi bread maker* at Goodwill on Sunday with all the instructions. The only thing it lacked was the measuring cups and spoons that were included with it originally.
The first test loaf,., not so good edible but, barely. The second one was very much improved. 1/2 white 1/2 whole grain with eggs. I told my husband I was only going to be making 1 loaf of bread a week.. because bread can be difficult for me.. but at least this way I can control the salt, and there are no preservatives in it.

yeah we'll see.. someone may have to take the bread maker away from me,. it Works Great! and only cost 11.00 bucks!! As much as I would have liked to have a Zojirushi, this works and looks almost brand new.

ok... off to read a few more posts and then I am getting on the health rider.. ;) No REally I AM!!!

I AM!!
