Hi RDS friends,

I am still very new to this life changing diet/book, but desperately want to start it. I went to the store yesterday and picked up a few things that I 'think' are ok for my beginning steps.

I skipped breakfast this morning which, I know, is not a good thing. But, it's a hard habit for me to break. I never eat in the mornings.

Anyway, this afternoon, I took about 1/2 cup of non-fat plain yogurt and put it in a bowl. I put about 1/8th cup of bulk granola (with pumpkin seeds) in it that I purchased from a local chain store from their bulk section, thinking these bulk foods are more "whole". This was all I ate so far. It was my lunch along with 9 ounces of water. And, amazingly, I'm not too hungry a few hours later.

So far, is this a good start? Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Vicky

Hi Vicky, sorry I'm a bit late in responding to your post. The holiday weekend with the grandkids, who stuck around for another day or so, had me hopping! What version of the RD are you doing? There are several versions out there. I think I'm correct in saying that most of the folks on here follow the plan outlined in the RD Solution book.

In it there is one day of 2 fruits, 2 starches three times a day. Then in Phase 1 it's six days of:
B 1 starch, 1 nf dairy, 1 fruit
L 3 starches, 3 veggies, 1 fruit
D same as lunch

Phase one is only for one week. Then move on to Phase 2:
One day of 2 starch and 2 fruit three times a day
Then for 5 days it's:
B 1 starch, 1 nf dairy, 1 fruit
L 3 starches, 3 veggies, 1 fruit
D same as lunch

Then one day a week just add 3 protein or 2 dairy to your dinner.

So according to this plan, you probably should tweak your food intake a bit. If you have more questions, try using the forum called Question about the RD. You're kind of buried in this one where people come to post recipes.

I can send you some more detailed info if you'd like to pm me your email address.

Hi Leeney!

I know exactly what you mean about the 4th of July holiday weekend. It was crazy here in Oregon, as well, with lots of running around. But, running around is a good thing!

Thank you so much for the breakdown on the Rice Diet phases. I have the 2006 version of the Rice Diet Solution. Is this the current book? I now wonder if it is.

And yes, I would love to receive additional information, thank you! I will send you my email address following this post.

Yeah, I don't know what's up with that. Someone else had that problem too. In the meantime, I've discovered a way to put it here, so read the attachment!!
