Does anyone else struggle with eating off plan at the end of the day around 6 to 9pm?? I am so frustrated with this phenomenon! I even bought these "full pills" at a health food store yesterday to try and battle the night craving. I feel totally silly for buying these! they are a plant fiber that expands in your stomach to make you feel full! You have to take 6 of these giant pills and guess what!? It isn't even about being "full" I found out very quickly that No matter how full i am I want to EAT at night. I can lock myself in a room away from my family and far away from the kitchen but..geeez...that sucks..I can be in the living room with them and slowly develop this horrible bad attitude because im so unhappy with out being able to eat..but this sucks too. IDEAS?

Kelly,

Hi. I experienced the same thing in the very beginning. I am now at almost 1 month doing this. First, you can eat more of the free veggies. I did not do this because at that time it did not occur to me. I also, like to have a cup of tea after dinner. It seems the warm liquid helps to quell the any hunger pangs. A couple of times I was so hungry before I went to bed I was not going to be able to sleep, so I ate a non-fat yogurt (80 calories). That helped a lot. And guess what, when I weighed myself the next day, I still lost weight.

Now that I have been doing this a little longer, I can truly say that after my lunch and dinner, I am very full.

Hope this helps. Good luck to you.

Hi Kelly,

Yes Yes and did I mention Yes. I know we are not supposed to eat late but I have even resorted to pushing my meals back or saving a serving of fruit or two so when those nighttime munchies hit I have something to fall back on and not cheat. Don't get me wrong I have fallen off before. But I truly hate the crappy way I feel after I give in to the craving :(

I found out for me what staves off "the hungries" is to sip a cup of hot decaf pomegranate green tea. It is delicious and it somehow controls my appetite. If I think I must chew on something I make a piece of Ezekiel toast and top it with fruit only jelly to go with the tea. An extra starch is better than eating totally off plan. Hope this helps!

Hi fabb… I’d say I’d be the last one here probably to give hard core “advice” in that I myself am only almost a week into ricing on Phase 1 (from the original rice diet), but here are some ideas that hopefully may help, drawn from my own experiences of ricing in the past. When the craving comes, drink water or have herbal tea, keep your hands busy (write in a journal, fold clothes, fix your hair, do word puzzles, etc.) If these don’t work, plan your dinner meal so that you eat only what you’re hungry for in that moment and leave the remainder behind to eat between that iffy 6 – 9 o’clock timeframe. And, no matter when you eat, drink some type of fluid with it to get the “full” signal sooner than later. I hope something from this helps.

Hi Celestine,

Thanks so much for the tip. I actually did that last night/tonight and it worked great. I stayed super busy all day and when it was time for dinner my 2 starches hit the spot. I used my servings of fruit to satisfy my late night cravings. It worked great and I have no desire to eat anything else now.
