I was hoping to get some advice. I started the rice diet and fell completely off the wagon. I am struggling very much because I am so used to eating this way, and EVERY person in my house eats that way. Does anyone else have this problem, and if so, how do you cope with it? I have such a hard time when everyone around me is eating my old favorites and I'm stuck eating tasteless food. :[ I need help. I go to bed every night and feel extremely depressed because of how I eat.

Samantha,

Ricing with a house full of conventional eaters is difficult...My husband and I have 6 kids, so for every meal I have to make something for them and something for me and I too have had difficulty with that so here are some suggestions....

1. Try to incoporate your foods into the meals. Each meal you make include what you choose to eat for that meal as a part of everyone's meal... Cheeseburger night can be Cheeseburgers for them and a homemade veggie burger for you (I can share the recipe, it's very easy to make) for sides you can do some steamed veggies/salad/baked potato, maybe some fresh veggies with dip (dip for the others) and cut up fruit. That will help you feel as though you are eating with them but you are still following plan.

2. Drink 8oz of water with lemon 30 min prior to eating, this helps you to feel fuller and more satisfied.

3. End dinner with one of your favorite fruits, this will allow you to leave the table feeling you were able to indulge on something sweet.

What we think affects every cell in our bodies, we must believe we are eating healthy to walk away satisfied. Examine your thoughts and determine if you feel that you are missing out on something, if you do feel you are missing out, find a way to put something back into that position.

It's the same concept of dealing with a child... if my daughter has my expensive sunglasses in her hand and is playing with them I can not just take them away and walk away. I need to trade the sunglasses for a toy she enjoys. From very young we learn that losing something is bad, we inately feel depressed when we deprive ourselves so we must replace each item we remove with something we enjoy.

Hope this helps a little,
