1 Month Anniversary on the RD - Lost 19 lbs!!!

Well, this marks my one month anniversary on the RD diet. I have lost 19 pounds and I am thrilled. Last year, I lost about 23 pounds and it took all year and then I gained it all back and then some.
When I started this diet, my BP was 132/89. Two weeks later it was 117/77 and last week when I checked it was 115/74. Right now I am wearing a top I couldn't wear because my boobs were too big. They are shrinking, thank God!
I exercise 4 times a week doing weights and cardio. I plan on doing more as my weight loss slows down. However, I need to eat more at breakfast on the days I workout. I was thinking I need to add some protein, like an egg, on those days. Any suggestions?
Anyway, I enjoy reading the forums and hearing what everyone is doing.
Thanks for listening and take care.

Thanks Monica. I added an egg on my toast this morning and it helped. Lauretta

Thanks Leeney. I have a whole can of soy protein sitting in my cabinet and have been hesitating to use it in my smoothies I make. It packs 25 g of protein for only 100 calories. I think I will add some next time I am doing an extra hard workout.

Your mileage may vary, but many women have a difficult time with soy. For some women, it shuts down their thyroids, which slows metabolism. For some women, since it is an estrogen mimic, it cranks up the amount of estrogen-related issues they have. I have avoided it for both reasons, but many people swear by it. But I just cringe when I read how much hype it's given, though, without the counter scientific evidence that clearly shows it is not a good thing to eat for many people, especially a lot of women. Some people do okay with it.
My niece ate a lot of soy because she's a vegetarian, and now has to be on thyroid pills. My friend who had WLS and eats a lot of soy now has no metabolism. When I was eating soy products a few years ago, it immediately kicked up my estrogen-related issues. BUT, your mileage may vary. I only offer this information in case it might be helpful. If it isn't, feel free to ignore.
But back to your progress, WAY TO GO!!! And welcome to the boards!!!!! Always nice to have newcomers!!! Keep it up, and keep coming back and talking with us!

Thanks for your encouraging words. I was interested in your info on soy. I have read articles about how it's not all it's cracked up to be. The only soy I have eaten is the soy protein powder and edamame. I have not eaten the soy protein on the RD diet but I do eat the edamame. I have never really analyzed whether it slows my metabolism down. But I am going to do some experimenting. I do love eating the edamame in the pods. It make the meal last a very long time.
Thanks for writing.
