The holidays are almost here :o with all of the trials and tribulations they bring (yeah yeah, the joy too). I think I am going to try to bump up my exercise and lose 15+ pounds by Halloween so that if I gain a pound or two over Thanksgiving I won't give in to temptation and eat non-stop through Christmas. And as the final part of my challenge, be down from my current weight vs. up on New Years!

If you want to participate, post your self-challenge here and check in with an update at least once a week til Halloween.

Hope to hear from ya!

I'm trying to boost my weight training, so I'll commit to doing it twice a week. Already got one workout in today. My next is scheduled for Fri.

Well, after my workout on Mon. I was pretty sore, so on Wed. I tried to hit the muscle groups that I didn't get on Mon. It was a fairly short workout, since I really did a number on myself Mon. Then today, I actually found a couple parts of my body that still functioned, so I hit them up...another light workout. I'm figuring 1 plus 1/ 2 plus 1/2 equals 2 workouts, right?

Lost a pound or two last week (though I was terrible so I'm not sure how!) This week I'm getting back on track with exercise -- been slack since getting home from vacation!

Haven't weighed in this week as it is another mega busy, mega stressful week. Arghhhh. Not been drinking my water cause TOM stuck around for like two weeks. Think it MAY have finally stopped so hopefully can be on track again soon.

Happily surprised when I stepped on the scale this weekend to see I was down a couple pounds. Really shouldn't be but hey, I'll take it. Could just be water from my very long TOM ending? Either way, it helps me on my goal for the month. Took a walk Sunday AND did mega housework (taking down and washing curtains, putting up a new showerhead, etc) and was surprised how energetic I felt after it all. Guess I'm improving :)

Down another pound today, not sure how, but not complaining. I really need to get my exercise up to help with the work stress, thats the short term goal. If I keep this up I may reach my lowest weight in a decade by Thanksgiving, then have a chance to hit a 50 lb down mark by my bday in January.

Down another pound. Still not up to my 80oz of water a day, but probably because I'm too darn busy at work to stop to run to the water machine (not to mention the ladies room!) Going to work on that this week.

Halloween is approaching and I'm afraid my good weight lifting intentions have fallen by the wayside. I'm guessing that I've done maybe 50% of what I said I was going to do. I think that I have become somewhat lackadaisical in my goal setting...actually the setting is fine, it's the followthrough that sucks. I just can't seem to maintain my passion for achieving my goals. I was thinking today that I'd love to be able to fit into a white wool suit that I have and wear it for the holidays, and I actually had a jolt of energy around that. We'll see.

Congrats on the loss, Kat!

Hi Leeney, stress is what's ruined my goals for this month, as far as water and exercise go. I did lose another pound today but frankly I have no idea how. Oh well, not complaining on that. Have promised myself I'll do better in November. I plan to make myself get up early *groan* and exercise to at least get that done!

Lost some, not as much as I'd hoped. Oh well!

I am being driven to drink at my job so today I finally tried to talk to HR -- too busy. So I told my boss in an email (he's also not here) that I need a new boss or a new job by 1/15, and I'm taking the rest of the week off because I left feeling like I was going to have a heart attack yesterday. NOT great for the diet :-P

Oh, Kat, I'm so sorry to hear things have gotten to this point, and I hope that HR and your boss make it a priority to remedy your situation. I'm sure you are too valulable an employee to let escape.

Enjoy your time off and do fun things for yourself!

Good luck, kat. I know you probably don't have the time to do meditation, but it sounds like you need some kind of stress relief. And fast! I hope HR responds favorably to you, because you sure don't want to go home feeling like you're going to have a heart attack. I just started the dieta two weeks ago, and at age 63 I'm a slow loser, but the thing that got me started on the diet and has helped immensely is a book titled "Wired for Joy" by Laurel Mellin. I use the process in the book each day, but especially when I feel stressed, and it really works for me. It might not work for everyone, but thought I'd throw that out in case anyone's interested. I knew I'd found something that worked the night my husband and I were staying in a hotel and our dog peed on the bed at 10:30. I had to strip the bed and take the sheets to the laundry downstairs, tired and fuming and feeling like my blood pressure was sky high. I took the book with me and did the exercise it recommended for high stress, and--believe it or not--I was feeling happy within five minutes.

Thanks for the kindness and recommendations.

I left work in a huff Tuesday and just came back today. Boss came in and I slammed him, a few tears (probably more due to PMS and lack of sleep) but at least he knows I won't keep working under this stress. He's a nice guy but not a good manager. Have not regained mainly because my tummy and stress don't get along. No other news here!
