Good evening. I have been reading this site for some time now and have a few questions as to how to proceed. I have reviewed The Rice Diet Solution and have purchased The Rice Diet Cookbook-- but also believe after reading this site, that many people who are meeting with success seem to be the folks communicating on a regular basis about their progress.
I have a few questions. Is it best to eat 3 meals a day and nothing in between? Is it best to eat 5-6 small meals--maybe break up each meal into 2 smaller meals--if that makes sense? Does hunger between meals pass after several days of being on the diet? Is it best to post daily what I am eating--or just check in on a regular basis to maintain support?
I have read that it is best to weigh daily--that seems a little risky for me. I was wondering if it might be better to concentrate on behaviors ie., sticking to the food plan, exercising, drinking water, meditation?

I guess at first with any food change, I am very prone to overeating in relationship to any form of stress. Honestly, I am very prone to overeating period-- stress just adds the extra kick. As fate would have it... it seems as though every area of my life is stressful (home and work). I believe I have come to the conclusion that waiting until a time to diet when life is not so stressful ---is not a realistic philosophy. I want to believe this change is not a diet but a way of life. The food plan looks healthy and really very calming. I know that I need to jump in and make changes now. I am open to suggestions! I am open to other people's plans as to how to proceed. I am open to the organization piece of this plan so that I do not allow this to become a stressful event.
Thank you for any thoughts suggestions or ideas. I want to be successful.

Hi Becca,
The key to this plan is to have everything organized and ready so you can grab it when you are hungry and not pick up fast food or a candy bar.

You can break the meals down in the way that works best for you. I usually do 3 meals but keep 2 fruits for "snacks" in the afternoon and evening. You'll have to find what time of day is easy/hard for you and make that determination.

Stress is a pain but once on this dieta for a few days, you'll find you have no cravings, which should help.

I weigh in once a week for sure, more often if I feel I've been doing well or poorly.

Good luck!

Welcome Becca,

I have a few questions. Is it best to eat 3 meals a day and nothing in between? Is it best to eat 5-6 small meals--maybe break up each meal into 2 smaller meals--if that makes sense? This is entirely up to you. I usually keep something back from my meals to eat as a snack mid morning and mid afternoon, but if your situation won't allow for that, 3 meals a day works fine. Does hunger between meals pass after several days of being on the diet? If I remember correctly it took me 2-3 days for the feeling of humger to pass. Is it best to post daily what I am eating--or just check in on a regular basis to maintain support? In the beginning you might want to post what you are eating and the amounts just until you get the hang of it. Feedback from other members was so important to me when I began.
I have read that it is best to weigh daily-that seems a little risky for me. I was wondering if it might be better to concentrate on behaviors ie., sticking to the food plan, exercising, drinking water, meditation? I know I'm just confirming what kat said, but it's your choice. I weigh daily, but that's because I'm on maintenance and it's a different situation. Do whatever doesn't make you crazy.

You'e wise to just jump in. If we waited for the perfect time to do things, we'd be doing a lot of waiting! I know for me the overeating was its own stressor and when I got some control over that, other areas of my life fell into place as well. I hope we've answered your questions, and if not, just keep asking. Good health to you.

Thanks Leeney for your your insight. I believe as well that "overeating" is its own stressor. Both you and Karolinakat say that in about 2 or 3 days, hunger should pass and cravings should slow down. I plan to start Phase I: Basic Rice DIet tormorrow (2 starches and 2 fruits for breakfast, lunch and dinner). I believe that I will eat oatmeal before leaving work to reduce the need to stop and get somethhing to eat before arriving home. I may trying holding something back from lunch to tide myself over. I will check in tomorrow night. Thank you for your help.

Karolinakat,
Thank you for your suggestions. I feel that planning for two or three days may be doable for me. I get in trouble when I try to plan too far in advance. I also appreciate knowing that the cravings should pass in two or three days. I plan to check in at night for the next couple of days to make sure that cross over the 3 day mark. Typically, the first 3 days are shaky for me. Thank you for your help. I will be in touch.

Becca, I just plan the night before for the next day, and have anything that needs to be prepped ready to go when possible. Good luck.

Thank you Karolinakat! Makes sense to prepare day-by day--- I think that is doable. Today was good. I did spread out my meals because I was a little hungry in between I believe this will pass-- but I was able to do day one of Phase 1. Tomorrow I will do the same. By that I mean, spread out my meals a little to get myself over the hunger hurdles. On a side note... I was more focused and was able to get a lot of work done today.
Thanks.

WooHoo! You've got that one behind you and it's onwards and downwards...weight wise, that is.

I have multiple sclerosis with extensive bain lesions. My daily injections are causing internal misery (swelling, bloating) and weight gain. I am trying the rice program solution to keep my internal system healthy, and to do everything I can to combat weight gain. I appreciate your comments, I can see using "mini meals" as a realistic solution for my life. It should give me a lift from constant MS fatigue too. ;)
