i am not going to wait til the beginning of the year like so many people do so they can make that new years resolution. that has nothing to do with it for me. this weight gain is really taking its toll on my body. i have trouble breathing after i walk. my chest hurts alot. even my legs feel so heavy that i don't like walking. i haven't been on a scale lately, but i know i'm well over 250 pounds. i wasn't always this way. i just blame it on being lazy and letting myself go. no one else to blame. i like to eat and i like to eat the bad stuff that tastes so good. lol but i need to start somewhere and i want to start right now.so tomorrow i will buy a scale while i'm out and reluctantly get on it. i already bought all of the foods that i'm going to need for this diet plan. hopefully there will be some people on here who i can depend on for the support and inspiration. i'm really going to need it.

Good for YOU Pebbles for not putting it off any longer. We're all addicted to the BAD STUFF, can't help it as the sodium and sugar is trigger food. Once we start with it, our bodies want MORE, first we have to break the habit of eating salt and sugar. Be assured that it CAN be done. There's many of us here available for help, support and inspiration. Good luck with your New Life starting tomorrow. Let us know how you're doing and what we can do for you. Bonnie

Pebbles, you mention the bad stuff that 'tastes so good.' After you've been on the RD for a while, that may change. I know it has for me. When I first started and had been eating this way for maybe 3 months or so, I was offered a French fry (or 2 or 3) and I ate them. I ate them and it felt like my mouth was coated in Crisco! Yuk! Once you get used to eating food in its natural state, the other stuff just doesn't do the same thing for you.
Information is important, but not usually sufficient, to motivate lasting changes in diet and lifestyle. Dean Ornish
