Happy New Year everyone! Instead of making resolutions I'll never keep, I hope to incorporate one healthy habit each month. For January it is to ensure I am getting my water in every single day! Any goals you'd like to share?

Hi Kat,

I resolved to get healthy. Overall it means getting enough sleep, brushing and flossing daily, staying on the dieta, exercising at least 3x per week and attempting to meditate. I'm also planning on leaving work on time! The biggest problem will be getting enough sleep. I tend to skimp on sleep and it messes with everything else. As I'm typing this it sounds and looks like a lot but I KNOW accomplishing all of those things will make me feel better. Good luck to everyone!!

Wow....not many folks here....and it is already the 5th of the month. I am going to try and put ME first a little bit. I can only care for everyone else if I first care for me. That means, eating what I WANT to eat, despite what others around me are eating. That means taking a breath, and not having unrealistic expectations. I am also resolving to get back to goal weight by summer. (That should be doable!) And, I resolve to not have a gutter mouth (not weight related). (I think I would embarrass sailors!)

A way that I resolve to get back to goal weight and care for myself is through:
1. making better food choices for myself (and my kids)
2. exercising
3. journaling (SO MANY TOPICS, SO LITTLE TIME!)
4. pampering my skin (mini home-facials, nice lotions...perhaps a BATH on Saturdays instead of the fast shower)

I may add/revise this as I journal about it!
:)

Kat, that's a good way to do it...a month at a time. I had a bit of a dilemma around New Year's goals and decided that I would set intentions rather than goals. So here they are.

1. I am willing to give up my propensity to be judgmental and critical. I understand that life would be pretty one dimensional if it unfolded the way "I" thought it should go. I am learning to embrace more diversity daily and to appreciate the contrasts and opportunities that this provides.

Oh, this is so interestingPosted Image I just wrote #1 and paused a minute to read something to my husband and noticed that the writer had made a usage mistake in her sentence. I proceeded to rant about this for a minute!!! So this is the universe giving me ample opportunity to practice! I surrender my critical nature!

2. I take responsibility for creating my life the way I want it. I am in tune with my guidance system and know what's right for me, and I believe I can have it. Some faulty patterns left over from my childhood have kept me from acknowledging all that I want. I can let go of that now and be open to having my needs and wants met joyfully, easily and gracefully.

3. Santosh, Santosh! That was my 'resolution' last year. It is a Thai phrase that means 'do fun and happy things.' I did pretty well with it, and this coming year I would like to continue. A lot of times, I choose to be right rather than happy, so now I choose to let go of things that don't really matter and choose to feel good instead. The happier I am, the more good things show up in my life.

You are a wise woman, Leeney! I can really appreciate all that you have said here. I particularly would like to join you in #2! I'm still not in tune with my guidance system, given that I have spent most of my life trying to please others. So, I would like to KNOW my guidance system! Then.....work toward having my needs and wants met joyfully, easily and gracefully! For me, whenever I have voiced a desire for a need to be met, and someone changed to meet that need.....I did not have warm and fuzzy feelings. Even though this was all INTERNAL, I felt patronized for the other person changing to meet my need. Sad, eh? This needs to change. Then, I need to try and identify a need. I am so lost to self, that I can't even begin to know what those are (on a deep level).

Thank you Leeney for your wisdom and insight. (and allowing to me embrace your goal, both for you and for myself) :)

Good resolutions ladies!

Leeney, I need to do this one too - I am willing to give up my propensity to be judgmental and critical. I also need to remember I am responsible for myself, my choices and my happiness. I can not blame anyone or anything else for what I do or how I handle it!

January has been a challenge so far. Supposed to move Saturday, found out last night the landlord has issues, had to handle UNdoing all I've done on power, etc. Boyfriend forgot my bday last weekend. Not a huge big deal but still, sheesh. I'm usually the forgetful one! Work is............lets just say not pleasant. Tummy upset. Not gaining but I'm an emotional eater so I have to really stay on top of it. Did have a very nice unhealthy Bday meal with mom at Del Fricos, yum.

Lets hope the year improves STAT :)

Sounds like you've been working hard to deal with all the hassles. Good for you! Don't be afraid to ask people for help if you need it. My husband would probably forget my birthday if I didn't remind him. I write it on the calendar too! Not taking any chances.

Down a few more pounds but stuck in my home with no furniture (well almost no) since the move fell through. My hair seems to be thinning -- in my case I feel it is stress, not food, related, but may have the doc check it at my next visit.

Linda, the folks who could help don't, and the ones who want to aren't always in the best position to help, so i just keep trying to keep on keeping on. Today mega upset tummy, I'm sure from the stress of the week, but it does help lower the calorie count ;) and turns out the BF didnt forget my bday, just had no phone or net lines after a flood. Still, not nice to leave me wondering lol.

Hang in there, Kat. It's tough going sometimes, but know that this too shall pass. Good news that the BF didn't forget. Sounds like he had some issues going with the flood. And keep on keepin' on. Sometimes it feels like the world is a big old bird flying overhead and pooping on you, but it will get better.
