Ok. This is my first day. Actually the first time I have ever done an online thingy. Was reading my Rice Diet Cookbook last evening while half watching the Super Bowl. I decided I CAN do this. At least with a lot of support from someone. And that support won't come from at home. Hubby is too thin, and wants sweet things around all the time. So HOW do I ignore those cookies or pies? HELP! I need to lose a minimum of 30 pounds. Am starting the diet today with what I happen to have in the house. Fruits and oatmeal and shredded wheat I have, so I am off to a good? start. Won't be getting to the grocery store till Wednesday, but I think I have enough to get thru till then.

A good day to all out there. :P

Hi Quilter, Welcome, follow the plan and you should do great. I did this a few years back had good results, but didn't make it life changing so I gain. But this time I am in it for life. GOOD LUCK!!

Hi Quilter! The Rice Diet is a good eating plan, and I feel better when I follow it. I have the same problem you do with sweets. If they're in the house, I'm eating them. Having some sugarfree treats around helps a lot. In warmer weather, the sugarfree popsicles are great. There are also a lot of Rice Diet "treats" that work. I think the important thing is not to let yourself get too hungry. Then there's no saying no to the goodies.

I do have some of the sugar free fruit bars in the freezer that I plan on having. But at what point am I allowed to have the Rice Diet "treats"? I have gotten thru Breakfast and Lunch OK. I am a person who is used to eating all the time. Not just at meal time. So I ate a fruit, then later the oatmeal, and later the other fruit. For lunch I had the starch and one fruit. Will have the second fruit about mid afternoon. Otherwise I will be eating something I shouldn't have!!!!

Day #2 = How do I stop thinking about EATNG? I didn't do too badly yesterday, but wasn't able to follow the dieta 100%. I am just way to used to eating anything at anytime. And it shows!!!!! But I think just checking in here on a daily basis will help. Anyone out there with some hints for me? Everything would be welcome!! :)
Everyone have a great day. (It's COLD here in Ohio!)

I don't know if this will help you or not, but I don't think about food so much when I plan out my menu the night before and write it down. Then I don't have to think about what I'm going to eat next, so I'm not obsessing over food all the time. Now if I'd just follow my own advice. . . . <_<
It's cold here in Illinois today too. There's some snow in the forecast, but I don't think it's supposed to amount to much.

Hi Quilter,
I just thought of something else. Don't do the detox day more than once a week. It's not enough calories to do all the time without a doctor's supervision. Do the other part of the dieta for the other days, and you'll be getting a lot more food. You'll feel fuller even though it's still not a lot of calories. It's something like a starch, no-fat dairy, and a fruit for breakfast, 3 starches, 3 vegetables, and 1 fruit for lunch and the same for dinner. Then there's one day a week where you add protein as well.

Thanks for leting me know that. Because yesterday afternoon I started getting very trembly or shaky, and that is when I ate something that I shouldn't have. But I knew that I needed something in my stomach. I ate a tablespoon of natural peanut butter. No I know that is off limits, but it solved the problem. Will see what the scales says in the morning!!!!

 Great start for the day. I am down 1.4 lbs. That is encouraging, because by last evening I was beginning to think I just couldn't do this! So another day, and I will keep plugging away. Just maybe this is the thing I have been looking for.

Way to go, Quilter! I'm trying to get back on the wagon here after the holiday goodies did me in. I had the blueberry oatmeal muffin from the Rice Diet cookbook this morning, along with a glass of soy milk and some tea.

 Great way to start a new day! Down another pound for a total of 2.6! Really didn't believe this would work for me, like all the others didn't work. So now I'm getting to be a believer! Praying every morning that I will be able to just get thru one more day on the dieta. Was reading the book last evening and realized I had not read (or remembered) correctly how to follow the first week. Ate too many fruits Tuesday and Wed. Back on the right track today. Really need to study the book and the Cookbook more. That Blueberry Oatmeal Muffin sounded good. Guess I will have to try making some. Also need to get more serious about the exercise!

Everyone have a great day!

There's a similar one, Banana Breakfast Muffins, on this site under the recipes section. It's under fruits once you get to the list. For the one cup fruit that's the last ingredient you can substitute 1/2 cup fresh blueberries and 1/2 cup canned pears, and you have the identical recipe. I've tried it with other fruit, but the blueberries really make it for me.

[/font[font="Comic Sans MS"]]:( Well, today wasn't such good news. Back up, but only by .4 lb. Don't know why, because I still followed the dieta. My only snack was a fruit bar and some fresh carrots and celery. Oh well, I guess that is to be expected. So I will keep at it today. Am starting to get worried about next week. We are going to NC for about 4 days, and my husband is a "stop for junk food at meal time" person. I know I will pack fresh veggies and fruit for the trip. At least I am a salad person so I can order that when we stop.

I am still not able to get thru the day without my daily can of Sugar Free Red Bull. I was doing well yesterday without it until my quilting (sewing) machine broke in the middle of a quilt!!!!! Not the thing that needed to happen! So it is off to the repair shop today.

Hope today is better than yesterday.

Sometimes the body holds onto water weight for some reason, but it will go away at some point. As long as you're eating well, the scale will eventually show results. With women, it can seem excruciatingly slow sometimes. Be sure to drink plenty of water. That helps me get rid of water retention. Good luck on the trip. Remember that most restaurants, especially the fast food ones, have lots of sodium on even their salads (dressing, chicken, etc.), so don't be discouraged if the scale is up when you get back home. It will correct itself when the water weight is gone. Take some whole-grain bread with you too. And Yikes on the quilting machine breaking!

 Great way to start a new day. Down another .5 lb. Had my first real test last evening. We took some friends out to eat and I actually didn't "cave in" at the restuarant. I had a grilled salmon salad with no dressing and a baked sweet potato with cinnamon. That is a real accomplishment for me! I don't think I have ever been able to eat the right foods in a restuarant.

Everyone have a great day and a great weekend!

Congratulations! That's terrific! Eating out is a real test. You've inspired me to work harder at staying on the dieta. So far today I've had a banana blueberry muffin and a glass of soy milk for breakfast, and for lunch a sloppy joseph made with TVP on a bun with a salad and a glass of V8. After doing the detox day yesterday, I dropped some of the extra weight I picked up from all of the goodies lately. I feel a whole lot better.

 Back at this again. Took a few days and went south to NC to visit our daughter and her family. Was pleasantly surprised to find that I even lost .5 lb. during that time!!!! And yes, I indulged and had a piece of birthday cake! I am doing fairly well at following the plan, but the weight is certainly taking a LONG time to come off! As of tomorrow morning it will be 3 weeks since the start, and as of this morning I had only lost 5 lbs. Seems like a small amount for 3 weeks of time! Tomorrow is a detox day. Hopefully that will help get the decrease going faster!

Had a bad weekend. Went to a church dinner where there isn't any choice of what to eat. Even ate a dessert!!!! Am down another .4 pounds in spite of the dinner. Total of six pounds now. It's not coming off fast, but at least it is coming off and not adding on!!! Have a great day.
