WOW, I think I am losing my incentive for this! :( Yesterday I made a raspberry coffee cake for my husband, and it was delicious! I only had one piece, but today I am up .5 lbs. That could not have all come from the one piece of coffee cake. So today I am in a down mood, and thinking about eating whatever I want. I know that isn't what I should do, but right now I feel like geez - one month and only down 5.5 lbs.!!!!! It wouldn't be quite so hard, but I have to cook "regular" food for my husband every day - hence, the coffee cake. Not sure if I can keep at this. But for today I am going to try again. Just typing this and putting it in writing helps.

Everyone have a great weekend. :)

Hi Quilter, you just restarted cravings. Do a detox day and you'll be good to go!

Holy cow! Over five pounds a month is perfect! Not too slow, not too fast. And the scale often has little to do with what we have or have not eaten. Just like a test does not really measure intelligence, just what's going on on a particular day.

If your husband is supportive of what you're trying to do, he might want to get and eat his goodies somewhere other than at home. Worth mentioning.

Hi Quilter, you are doing great. It is wonderful to see the scale moving down. I enjoy reading your progress. Have you kept a ticker tape before, it is another motivational tool that we use as you can see as each pound goes by how much closer to goal you were than before. Love and Light.

Quilter, you're doing great! Maybe seeing what your weight would have been had you gained those 5.5 pounds instead of losing them might put it in perspective for you. Weight loss is hard, and you're succeeding. I know that sugar isn't on the RD, but if your husband has to have sweets and they're tempting for you, you might try Tootsie Roll Pops. I think they're 50 calories each, which isn't ideal, but they take a long time to eat. There are also some good sugarfree hard candies, like the Werther's toffee drops. It's better not to eat anything sweet at all, but sometimes that's too difficult. Good luck and hang in there.

OK, it's been a while since I looked at this web site. Thanks to all tne encouraging replies. I am now down 6.5 pounds!!! First time in a long time I have seen my scales under 150!!! When I think I have 20+ more pounds to go, it seems fruitless!!!! But I AM GOING TO DO THIS!!!! My husband is getting used to my cooking two different meals. One for him and one for me. And no complaints or snide comments. I think he knows how badly I want to accomplish this! Anyone out there - where do I get this ticker tape? I would like to do that.

The weather here has been really great! Am really enjoying it. Thanks to all, and enjoy the weekend coming up.

If you go to on line support, the very first thread tell you how to do a ticker.

Congrats on the weight loss!! You are rocking' it! Not to discourage you, but more so you won't get discouraged...I found that the last bit of weight to come off was also the slowest. I think that our mental/emotional state has to keep pace with our weight loss and how we see ourselves. In other words...and I am speaking very generally here...we have to think of ourselves as a thin person, and for some of us who have battled weight most of our lives, this is quite an adjustment. But this is also why the RD works...because it does take into account not only our eating, but also our knowledge base and our spirit. Good luck. You are worth the journey.

Glad your husband is making progress too. Have you sat down and opened up to him about just how important this is to you and how you would love to have his support? Sometimes the people around us are fearful when we go through changes because they aren't sure what will change for them. Assure him of your continued love. It may be all he is looking for.

Where are you in Ohio? I'm west of Cleveland and the weather has been magnificent! Feels like we live in SC!

Too long since I have posted on here. Certainly have been very busy! Easter has gone now, and I did eat pretty much whatever I wanted for Easter dinner. Just not a whole lot of anything. Fully expected to see my weight jump up about two pounds. MAJOR SURPRISE! Monday I was down .5 lbs. and today down another 1.2 lbs.!!!!! Certainly hope it doesn't catch up with me tomorrow. I think I might throw in another detox day tomorrow just to be on the safe side. I probably won't reach my goal by June 1 (which was what I was hoping), but I WILL reach my goal. I am determined! Even with my bad days, I am going to keep at it!!!! I also am thinking that I might not be eating ENOUGH, which could be holding me back from losing faster! Maybe that is why the good weight loss from Easter. Doesn't make sense, but I know that it sometimes works that way.

Everyone have a great day.

Looks to be another beautiful day out there! My weight was up a half pound this morning. But that is manageable. As long as it goes down the rest of the week! My slight depression seems to have evaporated. And I feel ready to win this battle!!!! Everyone have a great day out there! Didn't update my ticker tape! Hoping it will be correct tomorrow morning!!!!

Hey Quilter, when I was on the RD before, I ran into the same Church situation. I learned to take my own dinner and fruit for dessert. Most dinners like that are pot luck so I would make a dish that was RD friendly and a tray of fruit. That way I didn't feel like I was the only one eating what I was eating. Others also liked eating healthy and my RD food was always well received and eaten. Make sure to set yours aside before putting it out for everyone else. Have a great day and God Bless You!

HELP!!!!! I am losing the battle. No, I haven't put back on much weight, only .5 lbs. But I am losing the desire or incentive to eat the way I should! And I know that will bring back the weight I have already lost. I see posts from others who have returned to the dieta and know that is where I will be in a year if I don't get past this "slump". What do others do to get back on track??

My suggestion would be to sit down and write about what's going on in your life for twenty minutes straight. Don't stop; just write. When I do this I'm amazed at the results. I usually start out just writing about what I think is going on and wind up really getting down to what's eating me. Usually if we pay attention to what's eating us we can prevent mishaps in what we're eating.
